The Spicers Creek Wind Farm Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was publicly exhibited during July – August 2023 and the community was invited to have a say on the project. A Submissions Report has been prepared to address the issues raised in the EIS submissions, to ensure the community receives feedback on any concerns and to help the consent authority evaluate the merits of the project. The Submissions Report is now available.

Squadron Energy has carefully reviewed and identified the issues raised in the submissions and provided a detailed response, including revisions to the project, additional commitments and provision of additional information. In response to feedback, the Development Footprint has been refined leading to a reduction of around 49 ha from that identified in the EIS. The Development Corridor (which provides flexibility for locating wind turbines and site infrastructure during the detailed design and construction process) has been reduced by around 714 ha from that identified in EIS.

The proposed wind farm is located on Wiradjuri Country, west of Gulgong and north east of Wellington, within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). The project currently comprises up to 117 wind turbines and battery energy storage.

It is expected to power 397,000 homes and support 330 jobs during construction as well as 12 ongoing jobs during operations, while injecting $46.9 million into the regional economy during construction.
