As Australia's leading renewable energy company, we are committed to working on transitioning our energy system to meet emission reduction targets while ensuring we are creating a legacy for the regions we develop and operate in.
Squadron Energy CEO, Rob Wheals said the success of a project depends on support from the community, which means providing long-term benefits while ensuring projects don’t create local pinch points like housing stress.
“As a developer and operator, we are part of the community for the long haul, which means we look to create opportunities for these communities alongside our significant regional investment,” Mr Wheals said.
“One of the key areas we're focused on is housing, where we can help provide solutions that address supply pressures in the regional communities where we operate.
“We have identified a range of potential solutions to mitigate impacts on local housing and the temporary accommodation market while helping boost long-term housing supply.
“For example, we are working with Dubbo Regional Council to build our worker accommodation village on council-owned land on Dubbo’s urban fringe, with a plan that will benefit the local community when our projects are complete."
To ensure it mitigates housing and accommodation impacts from its projects, Squadron Energy prepares an Employment and Accommodation Strategy in consultation with local Councils and key stakeholders for every project, developing initiatives to support accommodation needs.
Squadron Energy is committed to working with the NSW Government and local councils to secure suitable workforce accommodation solutions that will support regions in the long term and leave a lasting benefit.
