Squadron Energy was proudly represented at a hands-on careers event designed to introduce school students in the Central West to a wide range of trade pathways.

The Try a Trade Day, which was hosted at Dubbo on 2 December, brought together industry professionals from multiple sectors to speak directly to Year 9 to 12 students.

The teens who attended were able to ask experts questions about their industry to gain a clearer understanding of where a trade career could take them.

Students explored various interactive displays including trialling real tools and equipment used on job sites and wearing virtual-reality headsets to immerse themselves in simulated trade environments.

These experiences offered a glimpse into the day-to-day tasks of various professions, as well as the skills, qualifications, and training required to succeed in each role.

Squadron Energy’s stand presented students with a video demonstrating how to correctly put on a safety harness and other personal protective equipment worn when climbing a wind turbine on a wind farm.

This showcased one of the essential safety procedures carried out by wind turbine technicians and gave students an appreciation for both the responsibility and the excitement that come with working in renewable energy.

The event sparked curiosity, confidence, and new career ambitions among Dubbo’s youth as students considered their futures in Australia’s ever-evolving trades sector.
