After 1,300 oversize overmass (OSOM) components were delivered to Clarke Creek Wind Farm, it has now received its final OSOM delivery, as it pushes ahead with installing all 100 turbines.

Since September 2023 OSOM deliveries have been taken from Gladstone Port and driven overnight to Clarke Creek Wind Farm, located 150km north-west of Rockhampton and 150km south of Mackay on the land of the Barada Kabalbara Yetimarala (BKY) peoples.

Clarke Creek Wind Farm Project Director John Macchiusi said this major milestone was a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication.

“The team have meticulously managed getting more than 1,000 deliveries to site from Gladstone Port safely and on time,” Mr Macchiusi said.

“This is no easy feat. The logistics involved in just one of these deliveries is enormous. Getting all 1,300 components safely to site shows the skill and dedication of the team in charge.

“We are now ready to knuckle down and finish building the 100 turbines that will produce enough electricity to power around 330,000 Queensland homes and avoid 738,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.”

Each delivery has taken place overnight with police escorts in place where required. The loads have been departing Gladstone Port between 11:30pm and 1am, and arriving at site between 5am and 7am.

The project team have now successfully completed installation of 78 wind turbines at Clarke Creek Wind Farm. Having passed the three-quarter milestone, Squadron Energy are on track to complete the erection of all 100 turbines by mid-year.

Commissioning and testing is in full swing, with up to 30 wind turbines now operating simultaneously, delivering a total capacity of 132MW.

Stage One of Clarke Creek Wind Farm has created 350 jobs during construction and injected $110 million into the regional economy.
