Six community projects funded by Sapphire Wind Farm

Six community driven initiatives have been awarded grants under Round 1 of the 2026 Sapphire Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund.

A total of $64,561 was allocated to the following six projects which will deliver lasting positive impacts in the Inverell and Ashford communities:

  • Strengthening Boundaries at Ashford Showground Reserve ($18,000)
  • Inverell Art Society Strengthening Creative Spaces for Community Arts and Education ($17,567.50)
  • Sapphire Community of Schools Combined Musical ($15,000)
  • Replacement of Refrigerator and Bain Marie at the Inverell Jockey Club ($,5000)
  • Reroofing the Nullamanna Reserve Amenities Block ($5,000)
  • The Dramamatics Unstopability 2026 ($3,994).

Sapphire Wind Farm Site Operations Manager David Williamson said Squadron Energy is proud to give back to community-led initiatives and support the priorities that matter most to local people.

“I want to thank the Sapphire Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund Committee and Inverell Shire Council for their ongoing efforts overseeing our investments in the community.

“I know that the projects funded this time around will strengthen connection, creativity and local participation,” Mr Williamson said.

The Sapphire Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund invests in projects that strengthen local facilities, encourage creativity and enhance community wellbeing.

Located 18km west of Glenn Innes, the Sapphire Wind Farm has 75 turbines with a maximum capacity of 207MW of electricity – enough to power 148,000 homes and prevent 511,000 tonnes of emissions.
