Squadron Energy wishes to address a significant inaccuracy in the latest report released today by the Clean Energy Council in the Clean Energy Australia 2024 Report.
As an organisation committed to transparency and accuracy, we feel it necessary to respectfully dispute the claim that no new financial commitments to utility-scale wind projects occurred in Australia in 2023.
Squadron Energy’s Uungula Wind Farm, the largest wind farm under construction in New South Wales reached financial close in December 2023 with a major pipeline to follow.
This was a landmark milestone for renewable energy in Australia.
Uungula Wind Farm, located east of Wellington in NSW, is the largest committed wind farm in NSW with a capacity of 414MW.
The project will create more than 260 jobs for regional NSW and inject approximately $41 million into the local economy.
Once fully operational, Uungula Wind Farm will generate enough electricity to power more than 220,000 homes.
Squadron Energy is committed to launching new projects that will deliver 14GW of renewable energy by 2030, powering the equivalent of six million homes.
This will deliver one third of the renewable energy required for Australia to meet its 2030 renewable energy target of 82%.
