Central West-Orana residents with a trade background who are interested in a career in renewable energy are encouraged to take part in a new training opportunity linked to Uungula Wind Farm.
Aurora Wind, in partnership with Squadron Energy, is calling for expressions of interest for a Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training program.
The program, which will run for four days, is designed to prepare participants for work in the wind industry.
It will equip successful applicants with the essential safety skills required to work on wind turbine construction and maintenance sites.
The course includes several modules including Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness and First Aid — all mandatory qualifications for employment across the sector.
Anyone with experience in mechanical, electrical or construction trades, crane operations, or those working as trade assistants or labourers, is strongly encouraged to apply.
Aurora Wind will cover the full cost of the training, valued at $2,000 per participant.
Representatives from the company will also attend the course to speak directly with participants about employment opportunities on Uungula Wind Farm.
This training offers locals a rare chance to gain essential qualifications while contributing to the clean energy transition.
Expressions of Interest close on Wednesday March 4 2026.
