The Wollongong community turned up the heat over the weekend for the city’s 26th annual Aquathon – a sporting event that has become a vibrant staple of the region’s identity.

More than 2500 people across all age groups competed in the combined running and swimming race, bringing an atmosphere of energy, togetherness and local pride.

Port Kembla Energy Terminal Operations Readiness Manager Rita (Antranik) Boyd said Squadron Energy’s support forms part of a broader effort to empower community wellbeing.

“The Aquathon encourages active lifestyles through an inclusive, family-friendly event,” she said.

“What makes the Aquathon so special is its spirit of participation for everyone – from kids splashing through their first event to seasoned athletes tackling the longcourse challenge – it really brings our community together.”

The PKET team were proud to be on the ground supporting the event and connecting with the community.

Through initiatives like the Aquathon, we continue to champion activities that promote health, inclusion and unity - values at the heart of PKET’s long-term community partnerships.

A huge congratulations to all participants, volunteers and organisers for making the 2026 Aquathon one of the most memorable yet.

We’re honoured to play a role in events that bring our community together and look forward to supporting more local initiatives throughout the year.
