Squadron Energy supports AEMO roadmap for reliable, low-cost energy transition

Australia’s energy future remains clear: renewable energy, firmed with storage, connected by transmission and backed up by gas is the least-cost pathway to deliver reliable and affordable electricity.

The ISP reinforces that as ageing coal-fired power stations retire and electricity demand continues to grow, timely investment in renewable generation, firming capacity and transmission will be critical to maintaining system reliability and keeping costs down for consumers.

It also highlights the increasing role of batteries and consumer energy resources in delivering a more flexible and resilient electricity system.

Importantly, the plan shows that delays to generation, storage and transmission projects would increase system costs and reliability risks, underlining the urgency of coordinated delivery across the industry.

Squadron Energy is committed to progressing its pipeline of wind, storage and firming projects to support this pathway.

Our projects across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, including wind, firming and energy infrastructure, are helping to deliver the mix of generation and storage needed for a secure and affordable system.

We look forward to continuing to play our part in delivering Australia’s energy transition and supporting AEMO’s roadmap for a reliable, least-cost, lower-emissions future.
