Local community organisations are invited to apply for Squadron Energy’s Clarke Creek Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund for 2026.
The fund supports community projects and initiatives within 50km of the 450-megawatt wind farm.
There is a total annual commitment of $200,000 including $150,000 for community grants and $50,000 dedicated to scholarships, which will open later in the year.
Eight organisations were successful in their bid for funding in 2025, including the Marlborough District Campdraft Association.
The association used the funds to upgrade their arena, helping create a better space for local equestrian events. This was their second grant through the fund.

“A huge thank you to Squadron Energy for their large contribution to our arena upgrade at The Marlborough Campdraft Grounds,” the committee said.
“The committee and competitors are very impressed. The upgrades have fostered a safer and improved environment for cattle, horses, riders and spectators alike.”
Other organisations successful in their bid include the Marlborough Rural Fire Brigade, Marlborough Public Hall Committee, Marlborough and District Lions Club, Clarke Creek Campdraft Association, and the Clarke Creek State Schools P&C Association.
The fire brigade purchased new firefighting equipment, the Marlborough and District Lions Club installed solar panels on their clubhouse, while the Clarke Creek State Schools P&C Association received funding for a shelter for sporting spectators.
The Clarke Creek and Clermont branches of the Isolated Children’s and Parents’ Association received support for separate projects. Clarke Creek hosted “20 Years Strong: Empowering Futures, Building Skills” events and the Clermonet branch supported their annual sports camp.
In 2025, there were five scholarships awarded. These scholarships have helped successful applicants pursue their academic and career goals.
Squadron Energy Community Relations Advisor Patrice Willoughby said the initiative was not only about financial support but helping regional communities flourish.
“Supporting rural communities is more than funding projects, it’s about investing in the people and groups who make these regions thrive,” she said.
“Through our Clarke Creek Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund, we’re helping to strengthen local resilience and enhance and enrich our communities.”
Applications open for the 2026 Clarke Creek Community Benefit Fund from Monday, 12 January.
