Roadworks have been completed for the Goolma and Twelve Mile Road intersection upgrade near Wellington, creating a widened road for communities in New South Wales’s Central West region.

Squadron Energy, Australia’s leading renewable energy company, upgraded the intersection as part of work for Uungula Wind Farm.

The intersection was revamped to give more space for vehicles travelling through and to provide better road conditions and drainage.

Squadron Energy Executive General Manager Development and Delivery, Tony Clark, said the upgrade was a turning point for motorists in the area.

“The completion of the Goolma and Twelve Mile Road intersection highlights a major milestone in our efforts to develop markedly improved roads that benefit the local community and those travelling through the region,” he said.

“With the completion of the upgrade to Twelve Mile Road and now the intersection, we are creating safer roads that will reduce the likelihood of accidents and provide better conditions for all road users.

“The widening of the road is also a milestone for Uungula Wind Farm, as we can now begin to safely deliver components to site.”

Mr Clark said the new road is a permanent feature that will last beyond the construction of the wind farm.

“The upgrade to the intersection will create a lasting impact for the region long after our projects are up and running,” he said.

“This safer, more improved section of road leaves the community and visitors to the Central West better off in the long term.”

Dubbo Regional Council Acting General Manager Luke Ryan said the improved intersection was a positive outcome for the region.

“The upgraded Goolma Road intersection is a real win for residents, local businesses, and visitors passing through,” he said.

“The improved section will greatly improve safety for all motorists at this location.

“Thanks to Squadron Energy for their work on this project and providing a greatly improved piece of infrastructure to our local community”.

Squadron Energy will start delivering components to Uungula Wind Farm in the coming months, subject to final approvals.

Uungula Wind Farm will feature 69 turbines and generate enough electricity to power 220,000 homes, with the project creating 250 jobs during construction.
