Warrak Recreation Reserve has been given a new lease on life, with picnic tables, lighting and improved amenities delivered through support from Squadron Energy’s Ballyrogan Wind Farm.
The popular reserve, located 24 kilometres from Ararat near Mt Cole, was facing a plethora of infrastructure challenges.
Ballyrogan Wind Farm’s sponsorship supported the installation of updated, water-saving toilets, pipework improvements, modern lighting with a push-button timer system, and new picnic tables.
Ballyrogan Wind Farm Project Developer Tom Beischer said the reserve upgrades would benefit the community for years to come.
“We’re proud to support improvements to Warrak Recreation Reserve, helping to ensure it remains a valuable asset for the local community,” Mr Beischer said.
“These improvements will help create a more welcoming place for locals and visitors to enjoy.”
The changes were unveiled to the site’s committee at a meeting last month.
Warrak Recreation Reserve President Daniel Buckingham said they were “incredibly grateful” for Squadron Energy’s help.
“The sponsorship has enabled us to upgrade our amenities with sustainability in mind, including water-efficient toilets and energy-efficient, timer-based lighting. Without this funding, these improvements would have remained out of reach,” Mr Buckingham said.
Committee member Robyn McGuiness said the Ballyrogan Wind Farm sponsorship was a “game changer for our reserve”.
“It has allowed us to move forward with critical infrastructure upgrades,” Ms McGuiness said.
“Simply put, without this support we wouldn’t have been able to improve the grounds or offer these modern amenities to locals and visitors.”
A third committee member, Sheryl Dunne, also praised the changes to the revamped reserve.
“Thanks to Squadron’s support we’ve been able to breathe new life into the Rec,” Ms Dunne said.
“The new outdoor picnic settings and upgraded amenities create a welcome environment for everyone.”
