Cringila Lions Football Club players can now train and compete under improved lighting conditions at John Crehan Park following the completion of a major lighting upgrade supported by Squadron Energy’s Port Kembla Energy Terminal and Illawarra Firming Power Station.
The new floodlights were unveiled last month and will enable the club to host training sessions and matches well into the evening, giving players, coaches and the wider community greater access to the facilities throughout the year.
Founded in 1968, Cringila Lions FC has been a cornerstone of the Illawarra sporting community for decades, providing a welcoming environment for players of all ages and backgrounds.
Cringila Lions Club President Steven Jovanovski thanked Port Kembla Energy Terminal and Illawarra Firming Power Station for sponsoring the much-needed upgrade.
“I’m pleased to advise that the lighting upgrade has been completed and has made a significant difference for the club and our community,” Mr Jovanovski said.
“The new lights have greatly improved training conditions, and we are extremely grateful for Squadron Energy’s support in helping make this project a reality.”
Squadron Energy Port Kembla Energy Terminal Senior Operations Readiness Manager Rita Boyd said supporting local clubs was an important part of being a good neighbour in the Illawarra.
“Community sporting clubs like Cringila Lions play an important role in bringing people together and creating opportunities for people of all ages to stay active and connected,” Ms Boyd said.
